Spring Park

100 Block South Main Street

The multi-acre park features our Bandstand where our Municipal Band plays on summer evenings, a playground area, shelter house, a community building with enormous windows overlooking the picturesque park and vast open hardwood floor where banquets and events may be held, a water fountain, fish pond and various monuments of historical nature.

This summer, renovations of the horse shoe pits will be completed and funding is being applied for to renovate the tennis courts that are located in this park. The playground area is just across the street from the Virginia Ryan Strain Swimming Pool.

Southside Park

This is a small park in the residential area of the south side of town. It has a picnic area/shelter house and a small playground area. It is located approximately 6 blocks south of Hwy 54 on South Main Extension.

Lion's Club Park

1100 Block of South Main/South Jackson

Lion's Club park is located right along Hwy 82/Main Street and includes a walking track, and a pavilion that can be reserved.

Also located in this park is the Missouri wagon from the 1976 Bicentennial Wagon Train and the Blue Star Memorial to Armed Forces.

Lucian Carter Baseball/Softball Park

This park includes lighted basketball courts, picnic tables, shelter house, grills, and playground as well as 4 fields for T-Ball through Adult summer league play. This park borders the Gene Pray Memorial Golf Course and is located at the end of West Fields Street. Summer league play information can be found on facebook.

Virginia Ryan Strain

Municipal Swimming Pool

Located just across the street to the West from the City Park, the pool is open during the summer months. Information and updates can be found on facebook.

Gene Pray Memorial Golf Course

Beautiful nine-hole public golf course with four sets of tee locations; Bermuda fairways and bent grass greens. Rolling terrain and tree lined fairways make for an enjoyable round of golf, whether you walk or use a cart. Tee times are not required. Open March-October. The Gene Pray Memorial Golf Course is located at the west end of Fields Blvd., by the Lucien Carter Ball Park. The nine-hole public course is open March 1 – October 30. A season pass can be purchased at City Hall. For those that may not want a season pass, daily green fees can be paid at the pro shop. The City also maintains golf cart storage sheds for rent. Anyone wishing to store a cart at the golf course can arrange for a rental shed and trail fee at City Hall. The course is open seven days a week.

There are a limited number of tournaments each year. Golfers can also choose to participate in one of several different leagues.

Civic Center

The Civic Center has two main components. One side features City Hall administrative offices. The other component is the recreation activities. The recreation side features a full-size basketball court with seating for 250. There is a racquetball court, a weight/exercise room and an elevated cushioned walking/jogging track. In addition, there is a game room, locker rooms with showers and 2 meeting room with a full-size kitchen. The two meeting rooms can be opened up into one large meeting room with seating up to 175, if needed. There is also small meeting room that accommodates up to 20.

Gymnasium:

  • The gym plays host to a variety of functions, basketball leagues and tournaments, dodge ball tournaments, volleyball leagues, and some junior high events.

  • The gym seats approximately 250 people and has a beautiful hardwood floor.

Racquetball/Handball Court:

  • Also featuring a hardwood floor and regulation size, racquetball and handball delivers an exciting and intense workout.

  • The court is reserved every hour on the hour and costs just $1.00 per player without equipment and $2.00 per player with equipment.

Game Room:

  • The game room offers fun for all ages with pool tables, air hockey table, foosball table, ping-pong table, pinball machines, and other video games.

  • The ping-pong table, foosball table, and an air hockey table are free to use while the rest of the equipment is coin-operated.

Fitness Room:

  • Also located upstairs, the fitness room offers exercise and weight equipment.

  • Featured are two elliptical trainers, two recumbent bikes, stationary bikes, stair master, a multi-station weight machine and hand weights to 70 pounds.

Indoor Walking Track:

  • The walking track is 1/16 of a mile long and has rubberized surface that is easy on the body.

  • The track is located upstairs overlooking the gym, you must be 16 years old to use the track alone or accompanied by a responsible adult (18 years or older.)

Meeting Rooms/Kitchen:

  • The meeting rooms have the capacity to seat up to approximately 175 people for events such as birthday parties, reunions, anniversaries, and business meetings.

  • The kitchen is stocked with equipment to cater almost any meal. Tables and chairs are available with the rental.

Fishing Lake

Located just outside city limits on West Highway 54, this lake has recently been opened to the public for fishing.


This area is undergoing exciting changes with cooperation of the Missouri Department of Conservation, walking trail plans are being made.
