Details are pending and will be announced as the date nears, based on current Covid-19 conditions.
April 14, 2016 Over 100 volunteers assembled at the El Dorado Springs Chamber of Commerce for the first "Clean Up El Do" Day. The "Spring City Clean Team" volunteers improved over 50 properties along with miles of streets, ditches, and sidewalks throughout the community.
Many business owners put together their own Spring Clean Team.
Brush removal is always a needed service. Many residents do not have the equipment to make fallen brush manageable or the a way to get it to the City Transfer Station. Trees that were cut up and usable for fire wood, were donated to someone in need.
In 2016, six trucks made over 40 trips to the Transfer Station with discarded brush. In subsequent years, more brush crews were added.
Teams from school clubs participated too!
In 2015 a group of concerned citizens came together to discuss bettering El Dorado Springs. Topics discussed were tourism and the arts, including events and attractions to stimulate the community's economy.
Why bring folks to our town until we have curb appeal? Don't we all clean our homes before inviting guests?
This prompted the formation of the clean-up effort. An un-clean and cluttered environment touches everyone in the community. It influences potential new residents, it affects our children and also has an influence on economic development and the value of area properties.
The Clean Up El Do has continued since 2016 and is usually held the Saturday closest to Earth Day. Services provided usually include recycling of tires and electronics as well as picking up trash and brush.
